An anonymous helping hand to our neighbors in need.

What We Do

The Invisible Hand Foundation, Inc., lifts our neighbors over obstacles blocking a constructive path. We do so through targeted, timely financial contributions that address the problem, whatever form it takes. Our benefactors and recipients are anonymous to one another. In a relatively short time, our foundation has made a major impact on the lives of many of our neighbors. We are not seeking contributions. Our goal is for fellow philanthropists to create their own vehicles for community-based, anonymous giving so the impact of this special form of giving can multiply.

  1. Why Anonymous Giving?

Supporting the less fortunate anonymously is the purest form of giving.  In today’s day and age of instant recognition and notoriety through social media, we have lost the art of helping others simply for the sake of helping others. Anonymous giving was trumpeted at least by the twelfth century by the noted philosopher Maimonides, who identified anonymous giving to anonymous recipients as a highest level of charity. The Invisible Hand Foundation wants to reinvigorate anonymous giving.

2. Identify Your Specific Mission

We all know people we would like to help who are facing their own form of an obstacle. It might be victims of natural disasters or fires. It might be those suffering from a particular type of illness who can’t afford the right medical attention. It might be people in your community living without something we all take for granted. It could be anyone, struggling with anything. Identify those you have a passion to help.

3. Establish a Vehicle to Support Your Anonymous Giving

If you will be providing funds to support your mission, you will need to create a vehicle to anonymously dispense those funds. The Invisible Hand Foundation is a non-profit corporation that is set up to accomplish that task. Our benefactors are anonymous. We maintain the confidentiality of our recipients. We are available to advise you on how to construct your own organization to do the same.

4. Establish the Process to Identify and Vet Your Recipients

Once you have identified your community and mission you will need to create the framework to provide them with timely, anonymous help. While it’s not hard, figuring it all out is not as easy as it may seem. You will need a system to identify those meeting your mission statement and confirm the legitimacy of each candidate’s need while maintaining confidentialities. It took us a little while to get it figured out, but The Invisible Hand Foundation has successfully built its system within these parameters and is available to help you build yours. Learn from our mistakes!

5. Build Your Network

As your mission grows, it’s important to build and maintain the network of people and organizations that help you identify your mission recipients so your network can continue to fill your pipeline with potential candidates fitting your mission. Again, we can help you. If you would like more information about creating and maintaining an entity and process to undertake community-based anonymous giving, please contact us.
